Give your hands a break.
Keyless is a small Mac utility for developers. Hold a key, talk, and your words are typed into whatever has focus: your editor, your terminal, the prompt you were about to type out.
Hold, talk, let go.

Press the key
Put your cursor where the text should go and hold right ⌥. Prefer a tap? Switch to toggle: tap to start, tap again to finish.
- 2
Say it
A small pill shows that Keyless is listening. Talk the way you would explain it to a colleague.

It types
Let go. Your words land where the cursor is, in any app that takes text.
Why it exists
Coding with AI means explaining things, at length, all day. That is a lot of typing, and finger joints notice.
Keyless was built by a developer whose hands started to hurt. It does one thing: it lets you say what you were about to type. No editor of its own, no notes app. Just the key and your voice.
Small on purpose
- Lives in the menu bar
- No window to manage. The icon fills in while the microphone is on, and only then.
- Hold or toggle
- Hold the key while you talk, or tap to start and tap to finish. Whichever is kinder to your hands.
- Runs on your Mac
- Transcription is done locally by a bundled Whisper model.
- Only where you can type
- Keyless can ignore the shortcut when the cursor is not in a text field.
- Hands on the mouse?
- In toggle mode, click the pill to finish. No need to reach back for the keyboard.
- Changed your mind?
- Press esc and nothing is typed.
